What is Hell like?

Seriously, Hell is the absence of God. After you pass away on this earth there are only two choices for where you can go. You can either enter into the presence of God or to the absence of God. God does not punish you by sending you hell, you choose not to be in the presence of God, and the only place for that is Hell.

Hell, also referred to as the Lake of Fire and Gehenna, is the final and eternal destination for Satan, his angels, and anyone else who does not choose to be in the presence of God. Hell is a place of indescribable discomfort, torment and unquenchable fire.

and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

Hell, is the final and eternal location for those who choose not to be in the presence if God. However, there is also Hades or Sheol. Hades is the temporary holding place for souls after death before final judgment. Think of it as jail and hell as prison. Neither one is pleasant nor a place you want to be.

God wants a relationship with you, God wants you to be in his presence for eternity, however he will not force you to do so. You have the free choice to choose God or not. If the choice is not to have a relationship with God and to be in his presence, then the only other place to be is in Hell.
