Christian Scientists
We have been told over and over again that no “real” scientist believes in God. That all scientists “follow the science” that disproves God.
But that is just not a true statement. The more that scientists learn about life and the universe the more they come to realized it is NOT a chance event formed only by the laws of nature, and the more scientists turn to the belief in God.
This belief in God is usually driven by the scientific facts that they uncover and learn. The more they learn and understand about life and the universe the more they come to realize it must have been created by God.
Here are just a few of the leading scientist who believe in God.
Francis is an American physician‑geneticist best known for discovering several disease‑causing genes and leading the international Human Genome Project, which produced the first complete sequence of human DNA. In 1993 he became director of the National Human Genome Research Institute, guiding the international effort that produced the first full sequence of human DNA. Collins later served as NIH director from 2009 to 2021, working under three U.S. presidents and overseeing major initiatives such as the Cancer Moonshot and rapid COVID‑19 vaccine development.
William is an American physicist noted for pioneering work in laser cooling and trapping of atoms, research that earned him a share of the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics. After earning his Ph.D., he joined the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of Maryland, where he developed techniques to cool atoms to temperatures near absolute zero using laser light and magnetic fields, enabling unprecedented control of atomic motion. His work helped establish methods for creating ultra‑cold atomic gases and atomic fountains used in precision timekeeping and fundamental tests of quantum mechanics; these advances laid groundwork for later developments in atomic clocks, quantum optics, and quantum information science

Peter is an American physician and molecular biologist best known for his discovery of aquaporins, the membrane proteins that facilitate water transport across cell membranes, work that earned him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2003. He trained in medicine at Johns Hopkins, completed clinical and research fellowships, and later joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University and then the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where his laboratory combined biochemical, genetic, and physiological approaches to membrane transport. Beyond his laboratory discoveries, Agre has been active in public service and science diplomacy: he served as president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), has spoken and written about the ethical and societal dimensions of science, and has participated in international scientific exchanges and humanitarian efforts.
James is a highly influential American chemist and nanotechnologist whose career spans synthetic organic chemistry, molecular electronics, and pioneering advances in carbon-based nanomaterials. As the T.T. and W.F. Chao Professor of Chemistry, as well as Professor of Materials Science, NanoEngineering, and Computer Science at Rice University, he has led groundbreaking work on graphene, carbon nanotubes, molecular machines, and laser‑induced graphene, contributing more than 800 scientific publications and over 130 patents.
Michael is an American biochemist best known for advancing the concept of irreducible complexity and becoming one of the most visible scientific voices associated with the modern intelligent design movement. A professor of biochemistry at Lehigh University, he earned his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978 and conducted postdoctoral research on DNA structure at the National Institutes of Health. Michael has over 60 peer‑reviewed scientific papers authored or co‑authored as well as three published books.
Christian Anfinsen
Christian was an American biochemist whose work established fundamental principles about protein structure and folding, earning him the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1972 (shared with Stanford Moore and William Stein). His key contribution showed that the amino‑acid sequence of a protein determines its three‑dimensional structure and biological activity, demonstrated most famously by experiments that denatured and then allowed ribonuclease to refold and regain function; this result helped launch the modern field of protein folding and molecular biology. Anfinsen trained and worked at institutions including Harvard and the National Institutes of Health, published influential papers on enzymology and protein chemistry, and served as a mentor and leader in biochemical research.

Jennifer is an American astronomer who has spent much of her career at NASA, including roles as a senior scientist and as the Senior Project Scientist for the Hubble Space Telescope. She earned a Ph.D. in astronomy and astrophysics, has conducted research on star formation and interstellar gas, and has worked on major space‑science missions and instrument teams. In addition to her research and mission work, she has been active in public communication of science, serving in leadership and outreach roles that connect professional astronomy with broader audiences.
Stephen is a philosopher of science and a leading contemporary advocate of Intelligent Design. He earned a Ph.D. in the history and philosophy of science from the University of Cambridge and has served as a senior fellow and director of the Center for Science and Culture at the Discovery Institute. Meyer is best known for his books Signature in the Cell (2009) and Darwin’s Doubt (2013), which argue that features of molecular biology and the sudden appearance of animal body plans in the Cambrian fossil record are best explained by an intelligent cause rather than undirected natural processes.
