AI for Christians
Where does AI fit into the Christian faith? That’s a subject I am still trying to understand.
I will say that I do use AI when researching Christian subjects, such as apologetics, history, and theology. I do like the results that I have gotten from AI on those subjects. However, I will state that for any answer you get from AI, it should NEVER be taken as a correct answer without verifying for yourself. Use the answer that the AI gives you as a starting point to do your own research and/or feed the same question into multiple AI engines (ChatGPT, CoPilot, Grok, etc.) and then compare the results. AI engines often give incorrect answers on complex subjects or fields and should not be totally trusted. Think of AI as a “helper” not an “expert” when it comes to these subjects.
Also, I would recommend to never trust AI for any question regarding religion or theology without constraining the research to Christian beliefs or a Christian point of view, and ALWAYS, ALWAY verify anything the AI tells you.
Keep in mind that an AI isn’t a real human. AI doesn’t have thoughts, emotions, or experiences. It’s a computer program that has learned patterns from a large collection of written material and then uses those patterns to determine what words to put next. It doesn’t think the way people do. AI is not aware of what it is saying, it is just following patterns it learned during training.
Now there are several Christian based AI tools out there. I have not used them enough to aquire a good understanding of the answers they provide, but I would trust them more than secular AI tools. Regardless the same rules still apply; verify for yourself the answers provided by the AI.
