Who is the Trinity?

The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit
The Trinity is probably the most challenging aspect of Christianity to grasp and understand. So here goes…
There is one God, with three distinct elements. The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit.
One way to think of the Trinity is as one being made up of three persons.
The key point is that there is one God…
(Mark 12:29 ESV) Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Must people can understand or believe the concept of God as the Father. All Christians, Jews, and Muslims believe this. However, it is with the concept of God as the Spirit and God as the Son that is difficult for non-Christians to grasp.
It is a mystery how this can be. The Trinity is not natural. We do not see other examples of it in nature. Hence, is it hard to understand and relate to. The Trinity is a supernatural aspect of God. I do not claim that I fully understand how there is a Trinity. I just know that God, through the Bible, tells us this is now it is.
A lot of non-believers state that the Bible does not mention the Trinity. Yes, the term “trinity” might not be used in the Bible; however, there are several references to the Trinity.
Jesus directly refers to the Trinity.
(Matthew 28:19 ESV) Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
(John 14:16 ESV) And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
God, the Son and Holy Spirit all together
(Mark 1:10-11 ESV) And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”
For those who state that the Trinity is only a construct “made up” from the New Testiment.
God and his Spirit.
(Gen 1:2) The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
(Isa 48:16) Draw near to me, hear this: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time it came to be I have been there.” And now the Lord GOD has sent me, and his Spirit.
A son called God.
(Isa 9:6) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,…
God and the Son, blessed are those that take refuge in the Son
(Psa 2:11-12)Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
There are many more examples in the Old Testament that refer to the Spirit of God and the Son of God.
The Father is God
(Galatians 1:1 ESV) Paul, an apostle—not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead
• The Father is not the Son
• The Father is not the Holy Spirit
The Son (Jesus) is God
(John 1:1 ESV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
• The Son is not the Father
• The Son is not the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God
(Acts 5:3-4 ESV) But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”
• The Holy Spirit is not the Father
• The Holy Spirit is not the Son
