Online Christian Resources

My favorite online christian resouces are…

When looking for Christian resources online, you do have to be very careful. Not everyone online who states that they are a Christian believes and follows the Pillars of Christianity.

Below are my trusted online Christian resources.

The Bible

Ok, the first place to start with your Christian walk is with the Bible. As a personal preference, I tend to avoid the King James Version, not due to the content but due to the difficulty of reading and understanding the 17th century English that it is written in. My “goto” Bible versions are the English Standard Version (ESV) and the New International Version (NIV).

For a totally “online” version -

Biblehub.com -ESV

Biblehub.com -NIV

I have two “goto” Bible apps for my phone. One is the You Vision – Bible App. The You Vision App is aligned more to providing Bible study lessons.

My other “goto” Bible App is the John MacArthur Study Bible App. The Study Bible App includes the John MacArthur Bible Commentary, which is the best and most thorough modern Bible Commentary. The Commentary is a must-have for anything wishing to gain a deeper understanding of the Bible.

When you are ready to dive deeper into the Bible and begin a more comprehensive studying of the Bible, a ”must-have” tool is the E-Sword Program, available for Windows, Mac and iPhone. E-Sword is not the friendliest program to use; however, the wealth of information that it can provide you makes E-Sword more than worth the effort to learn it.

Explain.Bible - Ok, this website may not exactly be the Bible. It is a series of videos that provide a simplist, high-level (~10 minutes) outline of every book in the Bible. In my opinion this site, it is a great source for tweens, teens, or anyone looking for a very basic understanding of the Bible.

If you are a visual person or if you are not able to read the Bible, here is a starting place to begin your understanding of the Bible and God. It is a video representation of the whole Book of Matthew. Matthew would be my recommendation of anyone beginning their Christian Walk.

Pastors and Sermons

Greg Laurie

I would highly recommend Greg Laurie for anyone who is a new believer or have a question regarding giving your life to Christ. Greg Laurie is very down-to-earth and easy to follow in his preaching style yet while remaining fully grounded in the bible with his teachings

John MacArthur

No one today is more proficient in the Holy Scriptures than John MacArthur. He has been called “the Pope for the Protestants.” John MacArthur’s Bible Commentary is a must have for anyone who wishes to increase their understanding of the Bible.

Charles Stanley

Just an old favorite of mine. I have been listening to and watching Charles Stanley since I began my adult Christian walk. He always talks the truth as outlined in the Bible. With Charles Stanley, it is like having you grandfather talk to you. You cannot help but trust and believe his sermons.

Billy Graham

What can I say? The most influential Christian in the last 100 years. If listening to Billy Graham, does not put you on fire for God, you better check your pulse. God rest his soul…

Some of my other favorite online pasters include Dr. Robert Jeffress, Dr. Tony Evans, Dr. David Jeremiah, Alistair Begg and Rabbi Schneider.

Yes, the last one on the list is a Rabbi. He is a Messianic Rabbi. He believes and preaches that Jesus was the Jewish Messiah. Jesus was a Jew and Rabbi Schneider does an excellent job to showing how Christianity has deep roots in Judaism. I probably will create a dedicated post on this subject at some time.

Evangelism and Apologetics

To me, evangelism and apologetics go hand-in-hand. Keep in mind that apologetics does not mean to apologize; it means to give an answer. Most often, if you are talking to a non-believer about God, they will have questions about God, and usually, these questions prevent the person from being a believer. So, I do not believe one can be successful at evangelism without being knowledgeable in apologetics.

Some of the people/sites listed below are about both Evangelism and Apologetics and some are only about Apologetics.

Ray Comfort

Ray Comfort is one of the best-known evangelists of our time. His method of evangelism is a model for anyone to use.
